Fr. Donovan was a fixture at many of our family meals over the years. Mom and Dad always called him "the flame", which had to do with a sermon he preached during one of the many sermons preached by him - the Paulist Fathers were great homilists. Fr. was stationed in San Francisco at Old St. Mary's when I was growing up, and I was happy to have had lunch with him at a local chinese restaurant right before he died. He was an often Bridge partner at our house when Uncle Arnold Seibel came over. Fr. would also bring over a bottle of Scotch for dad (which in later years I sampled)
