Our family, while we seemed to have a "Parkside-San Francisco" origin, always had the affinity for horses and the country. Our great-grandfather Henry Oliver Foley was from back in Wisconsin and after he arrived in San Francisco, building houses after the 1906 earthquake and fire, bought what was called "The Foley Ranch" near Calistoga (what was called Kellogg at one time). Then there was the connection between mom, Aunt Cecilia Seibel Mclaughlin and Henry Laberege who either worked or owned stables in Colma and also near the Cow Palace in Visitation Valley. We have lots of pictures of horses, mom and Aunt Cecilia, and Henry Laberge and his "cowboys". Here is a series of photos with Billy and Henry Laberge.
Henry Laberge holding Billy while riding Duke
From my mom's scrapbook: " Two pictures of Henry giving Billy a ride on Duke. The baby was perfectly happy up there -- Henry even galloped with him."
"More pictures of Billy, Henry and Duke. It is quite evident that Billy is thoroughly enjoying himself."
