 Fr. Denis J Araujo (Arasarkadavil)

Reverend Fr Denis J Araujo (Arasarkadavil) was a good friend of our family. They met him around 1960 when he was getting his Phd at UC Berkeley and was assigned to St. Cecilia's Parish in San Francisco.  His brother Clarence was also connected because he rented a room with Mary McAleer, whose photos we have in "Other Collections".  I met Clarence when he had some sort of accident and mom tasked at least me to help get all the stickers out of his clothes.

Fr. Denis was always a huge man to me.  When he came in a room, he owned it (from my perspective).  He was serious but loved to laugh and we greatly enjoyed his company.  I do not have many photos of him, but that is made up for with the correspondence we have from him.  I am including below, letters from his brother Clarence and their sister Daisy Presentation.  (Their names have longer extentions, and I will add them as I verify them.)

Fr. Denis came from Kerala, India.  Its my recollection that St. Thomas the Apostle is responsible for the "Catholicization" of this part of India.  Its a place I would like to visit one day.
